Thursday, July 09, 2009 When we awoke it was over cast and the wind was blowing, but not too bad. We had decided to head back the way we had come; to head back north rather than go east to get around the point (Washington island side). So we headed back towards Pipestone bay and then north to Basswood Lake. Our decision to head west then north would turn out to be a good one once we got through the narrows and into Basswood there were large winds and white caps coming from the east. We skirted up and into a small bay on the western side of BW just south of BW Falls. The campsite was ok but a very rocky tent pad.

We spent the rest of the day fishing from shore. The only rain we had during our entire trip was a brief shower that afternoon, during which my cousin and I continued to fish while Sarah waited out the rain in the tent. Mostly we just caught Pike, but a couple of smallies as well. My cousin had the best luck seemed as every time I walked away from shore he was pulling in another one. The sky finally cleared around the time we were getting hungry , we prepared a couple of the pike and threw them into a tin foil pan with butter and lemon and had some pesto noodles was a great dinner as we watched the sun set over the trees and finished our whiskey by the campfire.
