Monday, June 29, 2009 Took it easy this day with the boys playing on the island and Chuck and I trying our best to catch some fish. We fished for over 6 hours in every conceivable location, with all types of lures, trolling, casting, deep, shallow, etc. We couldn’t get anything except really small smallies. SO much for fishing on our layover day. We made the best of the afternoon by goofing off, playing games, making popcorn, hot chocolate, whiskey, cigars, and anything else that would beat the weather. In the late afternoon one of our boys lost his shoe somewhere on the island so Chuck and I ventured out to find it. After about an hour he located it and we sat on the top of a very high peak on the island, smoke a cigar, and looked out over Bart Lake. The wind had died down, although the cold and mist remained, and we talked about how fantastic this place was. Given the conditions of the last few days that was music to my ears. (He’s coming back!) Breakfast was biscuits and gravy and was a huge hit.
