Report
The day before our entry we spent the day driving up from Wisconsin and trying to sight see as much as possible during the drive up hwy 61 before turning onto the gunflint trail. We arrived at Rockwood and stayed at the bunkhouse the night before entry. Entry was #47 Lizz Lake with plans to camp on Horseshoe Lake. This was our first trip, my 10 year old stepson and I, so lots of time spent refining the gear we had and what we needed for the trip and especially since we were using my Native Watercraft ultimate 14.5 tandem hybrid kayak. Reason for the trip name to say funny looking canoe as the kayak is an open top like a canoe but you sit low like a kayak and as one person paddle by I could hear them say"What a funny looking canoe".

We had a wonderful trip. We tried to take it somewhat easy and paddle the lakes while fishing and also just spent time paddling and sight seeing the lakes and also relaxing in the evening at the campsite. From Horseshoe Lake we day tripped to Vista and Gaskin lakes. We only moved campsite once to get a better site. We did spot this moose while on Horseshoe, a very cool experience to paddle near the moose.
