Woke up and began breaking camp. Made pancakes and sausage for breakfast. Camp packed and on the road by 11. Stopped at Land o Lakes for gas and a leinis sampler pack in Cans!!! (Something hard to find in Illinois) Stopped in Phelps, WI and took time to enjoy the North Twin Lake. Drove through Spectacle Lake campground (4/5) which charged an additional amount on all lake sites, but the entire campground was nicely wooded. On to the Brule River Campground. Found a spot with canoe access and swimming. Decided to go to Chipmunk Rapids and pick between the two. Chipmunk rapids was alright, but not as nice as the Brule River, so we headed back going a little out of our way to Iron River for supplies. Brule River CG was awesome. Just the right amount of wind to keep the bugs at bay, solitude with no one else in the campground, access to the river from our camp spot, pine needle carpet, and plenty of tinder, kindling and wood for a campfire. Set up camp and went on a short paddle up stream before coming back to camp and making BBQ chicken for dinner. We sat around a fire for the remainder of the evening.
