Sunday, July 31, 2011 Our string of nice weather continued into Sunday. Our plan was to spend two nights on Argo. My wife and I fished the shoreline in the morning from our site south and around the peninsula. Bass were plentiful with a two pound trout caught at the steep cliffs on the east side of the peninsula. We were trolling Rapala Tail dancers which were going down about 16 feet. It was a pleasant surprise to hook a trout the last day in July trolling a plug. We had bass and trout for lunch.

My daughter's friend and I went out fishing again in the afternoon following the shoreline to the west of the site. We trolled no more than 100 yards and he hooked a trout. Again, a surprise since we were in front of the sandy beach and the portage to Darky. An area I would not consider prime trout habitat the last day in July. We continued on catching more bass but no more trout. We kept 3 fish to eat for dinner which I put on a stringer at the campsite to clean prior to eating. The snapping turtle also had plans for a fish dinner and pretty much consumed our fish by 5pm. With such clear water, it was interesting to watch.

That evening, just before dark, I caught trout number 3 which was returned to the lake.
