Head off to North Bay today. We are finally feeling better--the portages seem shorter and easier. I was actrually worried about leaving and the fatigue but today is very easy. We also tried a new route.

We approached the SIde to pond portage--Sara stopped to hold up some rocks.

As we do the portage we go straight instead of up the big hill to try another route. It is flat this way and easier. We hit a pond where a loon poses for us.

It gets a little Mucky and we need to do a couple of beaver dam pullovers but we end up in the pond before Isabella. If the water is high enough this is a much easier route I think. Now on Isabella we need to refill our water. We never filter..... :)

We hit North Bay and take a campsite tucked back away form the water complete with stone chairs.

We fish and trill for awhile I catch a 19.5 inch smally jigging about 15' down right out in front of camp. Trolling gives us a few small northerns and smallys. I fish soem topwater from shore catching a bunch of small bass.

If you know North Bay at all this doesn't happen every trip. SMooth as glass...

We enjoy chicken and dumplings by the fire and retire after soem smores.
