dan (kiporby), ken (butthead), and me (kanoes) embark to explore new territory. it will be dans first trip out of ely and kens first quetico trip in a long time.

dan arrives about 10:45am for our canoe pool to ely.
uneventful drive until we get close to ely. we first notice smoke and then a couple of yellow water bombers in the air. stopped at a gas station to get informed about whats happening. learning of the fire close to town we decide to head to williams and hall while we still can. we drive out of ely thru a thick curtain of smoke.
we meet ken at williams and because of the unknown situation in ely we decide to eat dinner here. a nice dinner it was too.
i buy a couple of sixes of beer for the evening and we just hang out and bs until its time to hit the racks.
