On our last day, the rains came in with a vengeance. It poured, but we did not care because the gear was all wet but we were headed home and did not need to keep it dry any longer. Just as we broke camp, the rain stopped and it became very calm. We fished all the way home (with an early start) and I would strongly suggest that people day trip BACKWARDS to all those portages to fish them. I may be wrong, but my sense is that people push on through those spots while traveling and do not stop to fish them. Too bad. We hooked up on numerous large bass and were wishing we had tripped in that direction on our third day instead of enduring the "Bonnie Lake Disaster". Near the end, Colin broke off on a couple very large bass that we would have loved to see! It was hard to be disappointed, though. We met our tow at the appointed time, headed for home and absolutely dominated two large pizzas and an order of Italian fries at Sir G's. Never seen food disappear that quickly. Our boys were famished! All in all, it was a great trip. I look forward to going there again...now seeing the value of repeat trips. One gets to know the "lay of the land" and may waste less time searching for fish! Seems like every year we get a little more experienced at this, get a little more nice gear and it's more and more fun each time. And this time, Mike didn't lose the leeches on the first day! Here's to fathers and their kids sharing adventures in the bwca!!
