Report
I promised my 11 year old son to go winter camping this winter. He has been on annual canoe trips to the BWCA with me since he was 5 (Nina Moose - fell in at first camp site - loooooong trip - another story)

Any way we wanted to camp on Ram Lake, Entry Point 44 in January 2006 but found out that the South Brule River Road is snowmobile trial in the winter!

So much for planning ahead.

We modified our winter camping trip some and had a great time - never made it to Ram Lake either but pulled our fishing gear along for ride about 5 miles in and 5 miles out.

One way to stay warm of course is to have a fire. But to have a fire you must have fire wood. Chopping wood helps you stay warm - that way the wood warms you twice.

I had to try out my latest toy - a reflector oven I made from the plans found on www.blazingpaddles.com. It worked really well and the cake wasn't bad either.

All said I really enjoyed the BWCA in the winter and want to go back again.
