Lonely Lake Lonely Creek beaver dam. This was amazing when you are up close to the dams, there is tremendous amount of work involved in them, very impressive. Portage to Sturgeon Lake. White tailed deer at the end of the portage. Entering Sturgeon Lake Steep portage from Sturgeon to Russell Lake Fourth night camp on Russell Lake another good fire. Overnight the wind picked up a bit and in the morning it was quite strong and we had bit of trouble crossing Russell. We had no option but to paddle into the wind and waves until we made a lee shore. This meant going the long way round to reach our next portage. It did build up our confidence in the canoes and our own capabilities though. I was terrified at times though. It was rough out there.
