Friday, July 25, 2014 Friday: Malberg,64, Kawishiwi River, 60, Trapline, 130 , Beaver, 60, Smile, 48, Adams (Est 6 Miles) Departed 10:00 Arrived at Camp 3:30 (5 1/2 Hrs) - This was a slow paddle, relaxing day. I didn’t head out until after 9:00. The camp site on Adams was much improved, but I would say not very used. The tent pads were grassy and filled with “Caribou moss” and low blueberry shrubs. I must have had water in the teapot when I packed it, because there was a section of wet stuff in the equipment pack, I put up a small clothes line and things like my sleeping bag dried quickly. After setting up camp, I went fishing. First cast from shore caught a good sized Northern, guessing just under 24 inches, should have taken a picture, but I had a hard time getting it unhooked and wanted to get it back in the water sooner rather than later. After supper, listened to an audio book and went fishing in the canoe in the bay by camp. Caught a bass as I drifted around listening to a Jack Reacher book. I added the Under Quilt protector to my Hammock set up. Not sure if it was effective in helping keep me any warmer at night and I’ll need to look into a better way to hang it. What I did was functional, but not easily repeatable.
