Day 4 of 5
Wednesday, August 23, 2017 Because we pushed ahead, we were already where we were planning to be for this day. We took it as a day to rest and fish. We had three more days left and not very far to go, so this was supposed to be the more relaxing leg of the trip with plenty of time for angling different lakes. I fished all day from various locations; off the rocks near our camp, and in the canoes around the lake. Cherokee turned out to be much too deep for the tackle we brought, and we only had luck catching one lake trout by using a 10 ounce jig and dragging the very bottom. However, it was a very large fish and it made a good meal for us with some cajun breading and olive oil.

Unfortunately, starting in the morning one of my friends starting getting sick. He vomited several times during the day and was feeling weak. We decided to let him rest and assess his condition in the morning.~Cherokee Lake
