Day 2 of 8
Sunday, Day three, first day on the water. By the time we got on the water it was late and the weather was windy. We struggled with the paddling and after about three hours we found a camp site and decided to stop for a break. Looking at my maps I realized I cropped them tight. I wasn’t sure where we were and if we took a wrong turn. In the WCPP there are no signs to mark portages. There is usually a “flash” chopped into the bark of a tree at the suggested portage point. But when we found them they were difficult to see. In the WCPP there are suggested routes, portages and camp sites. But you can pick your own route, bushwack your own portage and pick your own camp site. Back to my story about our stop, with the weather being iffy we decided to spend the night where we were. I’m still trying to figure out where we were exactly. Realizing I had the route in my GPS, I pulled it out and realized I didn’t have this area map in my device. I had a route but on a blank green screen. Didn’t even think about this need. I believed we were at E Lunch lake, but wasn’t sure.
