Our experience on Agnes last week had us all wanting to be on the water as early as possible in the morning so unfortunately there was no fishing to be done. By 8 AM, we were on the water and heading southbound and except for a little rain and drizzle, the paddling wasnt too bad. The wind had laid down over night and for that we were very thankful. We paddled the length of Agnes, trolling for willing lakers and walleyes on the way. They were more than willing. After a quick lunch stop at possibly the worst looking marked campsite we had ever seen in BWCA or Quetico, we made it to Louisa Falls at about 1 oclock. Wesley decided to check out the falls and my brother and I took advantage of the down time by fishing beneath the falls. As we suspected, we were well rewarded for our efforts.

We debated staying in the area, but with Wes's ear to the weather (via the in-reach and his family) we wanted to continue on to Sunday Lake and grab a site for two nights to make our exit on Tuesday a bit easier, just in case of weather issues. It had been about 5 hours down Agnes and now the two portages through Meadows and back to Sunday Lake loomed large. Naturally, they seemed much longer and tougher after 8 days in the woods but press on we did. The entire group was whipped by the time we got back to Sunday Lake, so we aimed for a marked 4* at the eastern end of the lake. But as was our luck on this trip, it was occupied by a family with some coolers and folding chairs. We checked out two more sites but neither was acceptable to us but we finally found a suitable one closer to the portage back to Basswood.

This site was more suitable for a party of 2, but we would make do. After setting up camp and eating dinner, we were all pretty beat and decided to call it a night early. The mosquitoes were pretty bad where we had to hang our hammocks, but with the Thermocell placed directly underneath me, they became bearable.
