Trip Introduction:
Our group of 6 guys featured one experienced member, 4 first timers, and one who hasn't been to the BWCA since youth trips with his family. As a first timer with the responsibility of choosing our route / plans, I may have underestimated just how much we were getting into.

Day 1 of 7
Saturday, August 22, 2026 Four members of our group embarked on our drive to the Kawishiwi Lodge on Lake One out of Minneapolis in the early afternoon, with plans to meet up with the other 2 members along I-35. The drive up was long but went by quickly, and upon reaching Ely we decided to stop for dinner. Every restaurant having long wait times, and us wanting to get up to the lodge and get ready for tomorrow, we decided on Dominos pizza to go. We swung up to Snowbank lodge to grab our permit for Sunday, 8/23 and then met up with the rest of our group at the Kawishiwi Lodge where we feasted on 3 pizzas and mentally prepared ourselves for the trip ahead.
