It rained all night and while checking the weather the rest of the day and the 9th. it reinforced my decision to exit a little bit early. It would have been a less than ideal end to an ideal trip.

Unfortunately, Britton's was closed for breakfast. Worst news of the trip quite honestly. The drive home was uneventful.

Lessons:

1.) The first week of September is still busy. The end of summer, or the start of the shoulder season - take your pick.

2.) The first week of September has also been very good to me over the years with stable weather patterns.

3.) I brought too much food (accounting for the exit 2 days early.) I think I could get away with a 20L Adotec and then single-portage despite packing for a 10-day trip.

4.) Fishing isn't as fun solo.

5.) I brought some shoulder-season gear. A puffy jacket, long underwear top/bottom, knit hat, etc. It was unnecessary, but I find it difficult to not bring that gear on shoulder season trips - weather is too unpredictable and it's saved me from having to hunker down in a tent or hammock more than once.

6.) I had use for the rest of my gear and don't feel like I had over-packed.

6a.) New piece of gear I really liked - a lightweight pot grabber. Saved on dishes too - I could just eat out of the pot instead of using a bowl or plate.

7.) I don't regret bringing my hiking shoes (Altra Timps) as camp shoes. I do regret wearing my Merrill Moab Mid's to wet-foot. Too heavy and clunky and realistically there is no ankle support. Those will be replaced by a pair of Altra's with some Dirty Girl gaiters to keep the scree from coming into the shoe.

8.) All of the campsites I stayed at or visited were pristine. No trash in the fire pit (typical aluminum though) and I never saw one square of toilet paper laying on the ground anywhere. That says something about the care people entering from the north have for the park. Not quite so when entering from the south, or in BWCA.

9.) I just missed 100 miles once again.

10.) I would enter from the North again despite the difficulties traveling up and around.
