Day 3 of 5
Wednesday, September 16, 2026 Finally, some great weather. It's amazing how the weather can impact your trip so much. First rain, then wind, and now calm waters with some sun. The morning consisted of a beautiful sunrise with steam coming off the lake (see pic). I caught one small walleye right away, which was a good sign for the day! We fished the majority of the day, caught a few more walleye, some bass, and a northern. One walleye was 23" which was the biggest of the trip and had beautiful color to it. We watched the DNR team check their nets and chatted with them a bit. What a job they have! Spending a beautiful day like that in the BWCA checking out all the fish in the lake. We caught enough to make fish tacos for dinner, which were just delicious. We had three grouse (very small) hang out on our site which was fun to watch. We also saw Trumpeter Swans all over the lake along with many many loons.
