Thanks for the reply "Dances". I didn't expect too much in the way of feedback. It's somewhat off of the beaten path and I doubt that many have bothered traveling that way. In part that's why it was of interest to me.

I'm also not surprised by your report and that's somewhat what I expected to hear. For the last few years, the Rangers have been reporting much the same thing about the route between Mariah Lake, Hamburg Lake and Oriana Lake. So much so, they strongly advise trippers not to travel that route.

I suppose I could almost consider the route you described as somewhat of a bushwhack. I'll see what the QPP Rangers say about it when I arrive at the Quetico HQ. At that time I'll determine if it's worth the effort, unless I hear otherwise prior to my departure.

quote gnegard: "Hans,

Have a good trip, want to hear all about it. See you in August"

Will do Greg! There won't be a lot of time to re-load after Quetico before heading the WCCP, but I'll be ready!

I've been on Your Lake twice.

Once we came into it from the west via Badwater and Fair, then cut south to Snow, Trail and into Sturgeon that way. It was a lot of portages, but mostly short and mostly in good condition - in 2003.

I also tried - key word tried - to get from Jean to Boulder to Your on a day trip, back in the 90's. At that time, the Boulder-Your portage was a horrid mess. That little pond in the middle didn't exist anymore, and most of the portage was an open, mucky, boggy mess. We ended up giving up, since it was just a day trip from a Jean base camp.

In a little more than three weeks, I’m heading to Quetico for my annual solo trip. I’m entering through a northern EP, (Nym Lake/Batchewaung Lake) and I ultimately plan to travel through Sturgeon Lake, the Maligne River to Lac La Croix, and then east through Iron Lake, Crooked Lake and then eventually turning north to return to my EP.

I’ve accessed Sturgeon Lake from several different directions in the past, (i.e., Jean through Burntside and Rouge, Pickerel Lake and down through the "B" lakes, and by way of Dore' Lake through Deux Reveries. But for this trip, I want to change it up a bit and access Sturgeon Lake from another direction.

I’m considering traveling through Jean Lake, Jean Creek and heading southwest through Boulder Lake to Your Lake. From Your Lake, I then plan to continue southeast down Bentpine Creek to Sturgeon Lake and then enter the Maligne River en route to Lac La Croix.

I’ve traveled through Jean Lake and Bentpine Creek before, but not through the aforementioned route between the two. Has anyone done the Jean Lake, Jean Creek, and Boulder Lake to Your Lake route? If so, what can you tell me about travel conditions between the southwest portions of Jean Lake to Your Lake. Seems there's not much data on this route

Alternatively, I’ve also considered traveling through Jean Lake, Burntside Lake, Clair Lake, and Bentpine Lake to March Lake en route to Sturgeon Lake and beyond. Has anyone traveled this way?

I realize this is not the most direct route to Sturgeon Lake and the Maligne River, but I'm just looking to travel through a few lakes and portages' I've yet to see.
