I used it recently upon flying back from FLA but I'm pretty sure it's only for convenience (optional). Realistically, I think you folks are probably more up to date on it than me.

ArriveCan is part of a rather significant grift scandal in Canada and I think the government is trying to distance themselves from it. As such, it probably only exists to save face as it cost the taxpayer over $50,000,000 Cdn. They don't want it but can't abandon it. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the replies. It clearly states on my RABC permit that was issued this spring to use ArriveCAN. However, based on the responses, I think I am in the clear and they probably just need to update their RABC permit fine print.

Thanks again!

ArriveCAN is no longer used for crossing the US-Canada border by car, or by canoe from the BWCA. Arrive CAN still exists, but it is used for other purposes. I cross the border by car at least one time each month.

On a trip to Manitoba last year we crossed the border just like we had for many years past - just presented our passports and answered a few questions about our visit and we were off. No mention of ArriveCan. And during a Sept 2022 trip to Ontario we were subject to ArriveCan and border officer told us they would likely be dropping the use of it soon after.

Thanks, Minnesotian--I hope you're correct. Your newer link makes no mention of ArriveCan with the RABC, and it was used to confirm Covid shots, among other things.

Well.....I don't think needing the ArriveCan App is a requirment anymore, however the Canadian website for the RABC is amateur at best so I can't for sure say.

The link provided above is from 2022. The RABC website was last updated in September of 2023 and doesn't mention anything about needing the ArriveCan App. See here: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf386-eng.html

Maybe Argo can jump in here, but I am pretty certain the ArriveCan app is no longer used for crossing the border and is now used for Advanced Declaration when flying internationally and landing in Canada. Helps with getting through customs faster.

Thanks for asking this--I discovered that I may have improperly entered Canada on my last Quetico trip. Per the Canadian Border Services Agency , each person entering via an RABC permit must complete an ArriveCan submission for each trip. (That's clearly stated about halfway through the news release.)

Does anyone know if you are required to use the ArriveCAN app to enter the Q? I already have the RABC and Quetico permits in hand. I know I had to use the ArriveCAN app for when we crossed the boarder in a vehicle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
