07/20/2015 10:07AM Thanks for the trip report, ECpizza. I enjoyed it very much and I hope you finish it. I love canoeing but sometimes I wonder why -- especially on the down days. Your trip report reminds me that contrast is a part of the experience of joy and the down days make the good days extraordinary. -- Dave |

07/05/2015 06:25PMquote ECpizza: "it is easy to see when someone else is being a jerk. The challenge is to realize when I am being the jerk and try to change that behavior." Great quote. Especially important as the trip leader. It's tricky balancing each group member's interests. There's an important distinction between a fishing trip and a canoe trip with some fishing. |

07/04/2015 12:59AM Yes, I will finish it. The "missing parts" are the best part of the trip where I felt a real sense of peace and contentment. FWIW, I needed a webpage I can track to get my Google Analytics certification. So I decided to post what I had. It's been a crazy year since that trip! |

07/01/2015 08:32PM Thanks for the report, ECPizza. I hope you get to finish it sometime. I like solos - I think I've become "old and set in my ways" after doing so many ;). |

07/01/2015 03:19PM Ahhh. I see. I have very little wisdom other than it is easy to see when someone else is being a jerk. The challenge is to realize when I am being the jerk and try to change that behavior. It really was an awesome trip, and the group dynamics were not much different than any other wilderness trip I have taken. Every group goes through the same stages in one form or another. The trick is to be prepared for the experience. |

06/30/2015 11:38PM Wasn't implying that. It's just that you gave such a nice honest accounting of yourself I was hoping for some grand words words of wisdom for the rest of us, since we all go through similar things. Anyway, great report, and it really looked like an awesome trip! |

06/30/2015 11:08PM If I gave the impression that I was without fault, I apologize. I learned many good and bad things a out myself. |

06/30/2015 04:37PM I really enjoyed reading this. I liked the interweaving of the personality issues with the trip. Curious to see if these conflicts help you discover anything new about yourself. I find that these kinds of difficult trips help me see my own faults. Which, thankfully I feel absolutely no urge or guilt about fixing - just nice to know what they all are. |
