Has anyone been through this Quetico Fishing Card system yet?

Wondering, is is just as easy to get it at the same time as the licence, or is there a need to take care of it ahead of time???

I ordered both the outdoors card and conservation license over the phone on the same call. I think when I ordered the license, the woman just asked if I wanted to order the card also. I received them in the mail six days later.

Just heard about this fishing "card" from a buddy that returned from Ontario. Nothing but a revenue enhancer from what I see. What's the point otherwise - zippo!

From what I understand, the card puts you in their system to purchase Hunting and Fishing licences, it's good for the next three years in all of Ontario.

If you do it on the phone you will likley have it within a week, or it can be done at any ranger station when paying for camping and fishing fees.

I just got our fishing license through the mail, but no card. Grrr, I assumed the guy would give us the card as well, since we obviously did not have them.

Chicken,

Did you purchase a card? It was not clear in your post. I assume you did, as I am not sure you can get a license without it. ANyway I have heard that you are supposed to get some type of paper confirmation that you purchased your card, but the actual card may not arrive for several weeks.

I should have specified better, the card in a week I mentioned, is just a temporary paper card like Tim said.
The hard plastic card will actually take months, not sure why, but you will probably be planning your next trip by the time it arrives.

Hmmm... looking back at my credit card statement. The charge from the MNR is suspiciously the same for 6 licenses and 6 cards. (Taking into account the exchange rate) Apparently I need look through the envelope more closely when I get home. (And remove my foot from my mouth)
