Greetings to all Quetico aficionados! I am new to this area of the BB, but, I am a long time poster, contributor and daily visitor to BWCA.com. I have done over 14 BW trips and now I am planning my first Quetico journey this year. It is about time, don't ya' think?!! I want to do a solo trip and route through both the Man Chain and the Falls Chain on my adventure. I plan on leaving early to mid June and staying out for 12-14 days or so, whatever it takes. I have done long (10 day) solos before so being out that long will not be an issue. My question is this- what route would you take to see both the Falls Chain and the Man Chain on one trip? I am looking at maps and I see how to do it, just not sure what the best route would be. I plan to enter at Carp lake via Prairie Portage ranger station. I would be grateful for any advice on route, camp sites, fishing (high priority) or other helpful hints. I thank you in advance for your help and the time you took to respond!
Adventure is as much on the inside as it is on the outside- live adventurously!!!
There are multiple ways to join your Man Chain & Falls Chain trip together. I think one of my favorite routes is down the Kashapiwi chain of Lakes, with Cairn and Sark on the route. You might get a little more solotude there than on the other 2 links .
Fishguts has a great point as you will likely see several others on the Falls Chain and Kawnipi. Take a look at the Kawnipi to Keewatin, Hurlburt, Reid, Trant to Kahshahpiwi route. Lots of solitude and many paintings to check out. Personally myself I would route out of Kahshahpiwi via McNeice and avoid the two southern portages to Side or Yum Yum. This would also offer you the option of the S Chain as a secondary exit or Agnes.

Take your journey and never look back. Life is too short, not to enjoy the necessities of the north woods.
Hey Ken... in doing a little search for info on the Falls Chain, I stumbled across this thread. Did you do your solo trip? If so, how did it go?
