What has been your go to hammock Tarp for the BWCA of hangs in general?

I use the CCS 12x10 tarp for my hammock. This gives me a 12’ long at the top and 5’ hanging down on each side. I’ve never had a problem even in heavy rain storms. My hammock is 6’, that gives me 3’ of coverage on each end. I have used this in weather down to about 40 deg with no issues. If raining or windy I just lower the sides down to the ground.

I have the Hammock Gear “Journey.” Good tarp.

I run a Underground Quilt Winterdream 12' with pull outs and snaps in the winter and fall and it has been awesome. You can flip the doors up and make a porch essentially if the weather is good. It has been out in -40 for days in the winter and also kept me dry for five days of torrential nonstop rain. It is close to ten years old and still functions great after at least twenty trips. One nice feature is you can switch from porch mode to private mode quickly if you want to change. In porch mode there is enough room for 3-4 to play cribbage and stay dry. I have found that I no longer take my CCS 10x14 tarp unless I go with bigger group as this essentially gives me the same feature in a smaller package. I would highly recommend it.
In the summer it is a bit much so I use a standard tarp from UGC.

I have owned several hammock camping tarps. The one I love best is the Warbonnet Outdoors Superfly . I own 2 Superfly and a Warbonnet Outdoors Mamajamba , essentially the same tarp without the doors.

My tarps are all 11'. This length works best for my hammocks and the campsites of the BWCA. The Superfly is also available in a 12' and 13' version.

I also own a CCS Tundra Tarp. The Tundra tarp is amazing but, packed size and weight make it a less attractive hammock-specific shelter.

I like any tarp that is hexagonal. Oversize it enough and you can close doors on each end.

I have a new 1.1oz CCS 10'x16' white tarp. Nathan from Cooke Custom Sewing recommended that I install the CCS Ridgeline Stuff Sack along the 10' length so I have 8' out to each side for coverage. What a good idea that was! I wouldn't have thought of doing it that way. The only issue is now I have to get the ridgeline up above 8' on the tree though so the tarp doesn't drag on the ground before I hook up the guy lines. But it sure has been easier to find trees that are 12' to 15' apart (to fit the 10' wide tarp width) rather than 18' to 20'+ apart (to fit the 16' width) to hang the tarp. We've used a NEMO Bugout shelter, so it serves a dual purpose....tarp at night for the hammocks, (one over the other bunk bed style) and screened area in the day to keep the bugs out..also eliminates the need for mosquito netting over the hammock.

Warbonnet Thunderfly hands down. Smaller, yet still provides more than enough coverage than the Superfly. I own multiple CCS tarps, but reserve those for the main area because I’ve had some leak due to the quad loops and the multiple stitch area. Hammock specific tarps had reduced stitching to normally just the ridgeline hence reducing the probability of leaks.
