Thinking about a “Quetico light” fishing trip this year. Just stay in our tear drop camper at the campground and fishing French L. and that nearby end of Pickerel via our canoe. Fishing partner getting too old for backcountry so I was thinking fishing might be pretty decent just doing the Q that way. Timing very flexible. Whadya think?

Can't hurt to try. I've fished French Lake once and done well on walleye. That was on the opener. Pickerel is a fish factory and you should be able to find some fish there, even on a day trip. Just watch the wind- a west wind can be tough for Pickerel.
