Just a reminder that anything is possible. With proper planning and careful attention to detail, any trip is within reach.
Just got back from our 4 day trip into Alder, with a day hike to Johnson Falls. So many fun ways to enjoy canoe country with kids. Bugs! Bug Bites! Diapers! Lake Trout! Grilled Cheese! Snacks! Hot Chocolate! Hikes! Paddles!
Each trip has a name that comes about sometime on the trip.... On the way in on East Bearskin, another canoer yelled over and asked if we were a 5-pack... and yes we were. Our 5 year old (7 trips), 3 year old (4 trips) and 11 month old (already her 2nd overnighter into the BW- as she was standing in the front of the canoe leading the way), along with myself (dad) and my spouse (Mom). Our green 18.5 three seater Souris River Quetico was one of the most stable canoes I've been in (I haven't been in many this big).
Finally, I'll report the mouse still lives on(!) on the southern site on Alder. A piece of ledge rock, a stick, 25' paracord, and a marshmellow (packed out after), wasn't enough to capture the rodent, but was my 5 year olds favorite memory as we talked about the trip on the way home.
