We bring 14-18 men up to BWCA each fall (divided into 3 groups). We are ages 50's to 70's. We base camp typically on Red Rock lake.
Over the 15 years of basecaming in BWCA we have gone the other way from the threads in this section:
We have almost all moved from tents to hammocks
To handle those rainy days, we use very large group tarps in each camp to cook under and hang out under.
We bring ultra light, but comfortable chairs like Helinox. No heavy bag chairs
Our food has moved to dehydrated
In short, as we have grown older we want to haul less weight, and spend less time setting it up. Most of the threads in this section seem to be how to camp like you are in the state park, but in the BWCA.
Far less gear. . . .less time cooking. . . lighter/comfortable chairs. . . no tents/cots
