Hello,
I am heading up to the Snowbank Lake area 8/20-8/23. I am decently experienced on large lakes and with a canoe. Out of the group of fou r, two are complete newbies. We are going to be up most likely fairly late on Friday and I was wondering if it would be a not so smart of an idea to look for a campsite on Parent Lake as opposed to paddling Snowbank looking for one. This seems to be a popular entry point and I'd rather not have to paddle a large lake like Snowbank in search of a campsite if I can possibly eat the portage to Parent and hopefully grab one of the two sites on there.

Thanks!

Maybe, but I doubt one portage will escape the crowds. Parent and Disappointment may be as busy if not busier than Snowbank that time of year.

Agreed, showing up late to a smaller lake isn't ideal that close to an EP

Thanks for the input! I guess that was confirming the inevitable. Should be a good trip either way!

I probably wouldn't go up there with that as your plan. I saw a video posted up on YouTube from Matthew Posa if you know that channel. He entered in the afternoon on Snowbank on Friday of fathers day weekend last year and wasn't able to find a site until Ima lake I believe and at that point it was about 1 in the morning. He was eating diner when the sun was coming up. Maybe fathers day is busier than the 3rd weekend in August but I doubt it.
