One idea

Two other ideas:

1. Entry 47 off the Gunflint Trail. Enter Lizz Lake and make a loop through Horseshoe (good chance of seeing moose), Winchell (Climb the cliffs), back to Gaskin or Horseshoe and then out. Easy, short portages, good scenery, some fishing chances. (Rockwood Outfitters on Poplar Lake is a good choice.)

2. Entry 37 - Kawishiwi Lake. Spend the night before in the campground on Sawbill Lake. Have Sawbill Outfitters shuttle you to Kawishiwi Lake in the morning. Work your way back to Sawbill Lake through the Lady Lakes Chain. Head north out of Kawishiwi Lake through Square, Kawasachong, and Townline Lakes to Polly Lake( Your first Lady). (You will pass through the eastern-most reaches of the Pagami Creek Fire.) . Turn east out of Polly to find the Phoebe River and more of the Ladies (Hazel, Phoebe, and Grace. Knight Lake kind of slips in there.) . Pick Phoebe or Grace to spend the night on. Head over to Beth or Alton Lakes for your last night. Tackle Alton earlier in the day to avoid the wind. Head out to Sawbill when you are ready. This route has beautiful river paddling. Be prepared for beaver dam pullovers. If water is moving, there are beautiful waterfalls. Sawbill Outfitters at Sawbill Lake is a good choice here.

Hope you have a great trip.

The number Lakes is a good trip for beginners 2 portage's and you can get to Lake 4 and Basecamp from there you can do side trips to insula and Fire lake area. I have not been to this area since the fire so I'm not sure what kind of damage there was to that area.

That's the hard part is that I don't even know who is going, so it's hard to know the I don't know how fit they are going to be. But I like the outfitters link idea. Thanks

Do you have your own gear or will you be using an outfitter? If you are going thru an outfitter they can help you plan your trip. Does your group want to travel every day or basecamp and do day trips? If you click on the outfitters tab at the top of the page it will point you to the right direction for you trip.
