08/04/2018 06:28PM Search on google maps and you dont even get all. I think at least 5 on Moose. Smitty's on Snowbank. Does seem kind of an outfitter desert between Andersons on Crane and Echo Trail Outfitters and Duane's in Babbit. |

08/04/2018 02:50PM Most outfitters are on the shore of a lake leading to an entry point: 3 on Moose Lake, 1 on Kawishiwi River (Lake One) , a dozen or more along the Gunflint Trail. Outfitters are scarce near the western section of the BW: One on an island in Lac La Croix, others in Crane Lake. The outfitters in town, or not on your desired lake, are happy to shuttle you to the right lake, usually at no charge if you rent your canoes from them. You can leave your vehicle at your exit point if different from where they drop you off. The outfitters are glad to talk to you about your trip. Once you decide on which side of the BW you want, check out the websites of some outfitters, e-mail them with your desired entry point and needs for canoes, bunkhouse, equipment, etc. Then you can phone to talk about your specific questions (it's considered bad form to call an outfitter at random during the busy season having done no research at all - they are busy packing for waiting customers, loading canoes, and doing16 -20 hours of other work that day). |
