07/16/2019 08:59PM Lake Insula, entering through the Lake One portage. Big lake with lots of bays if it gets windy or nasty, & a marvelous place to go when the summer paddlers are gone - don't believe it holds lakers, but there are 'eyes & some big pike. |

07/12/2019 11:54AM I would put my vote in for LIS. I've had pretty good luck fishing the east end of Loon along the cliffs and points that time of year. And if you have time, head up and fish the main channel off of LLC's Snow Bay. We have caught a few really big fish, Northern, Lakers and walleye on LLC, all while fishing trolling for walleye with deep diving Raps. Big water, equals big fish. You may see a few motor boats, but that time of year not very many in my experience. Mid September is a great time of year to go up but as you stated the fishing can be hit or miss. If it looks like wind will be a factor you could go to Little Loon for walleye and day trip to Fat for lakers. Another option to consider Would be Moose river north. You could walleye fish Agnes, then head over to Oyster for Lakers. Good luck and have fun with your dad |

07/11/2019 03:19PM I have never made it down to Snowbank but had quite a bit of luck catching smallmouth on Boot lake, just north east of snowbank. |

07/11/2019 02:22PM Hello, I am planning a fishing trip with my dad this fall. He and I will be taking a four day trip, beginning, Wednesday, September 18. I am an experienced BWCA camper, but this trip will be my first this late in the year. It will only be my dads second time in the BWCA. My goal is to put us in the best location to try and catch fish, specifically walleye and/or Lake Trout. I know this is not the ideal time of year but it was the only time that worked. I have tentatively looked at putting in at Mudro, LIS, and Snowbank. I expect our first day to be the longest paddle day, followed by two days at a basecamp. Again, our goal is to get away, relax, and catch some fish. I would appreciate any advice on fishing routes this time of year. Cheers. |
