01/05/2020 08:15PM My experience with the death march portages was not completely a pleasant experience. I failed to fill my water bottles prior to embarking on them and the filthy ponds in between is no place to filter water. That was my fault. However, the water was very high the year I went and the portage landings were under water so I spent an immense amount of time finding them. Most portages are easily seen as an opening in the woods with a rocky or gravel landing. These were under water so it made for a nervous experience for me. I was traveling solo too. Additionally, I went early in the spring and there were numerous fallen trees that had not yet been cleared. The total portage length for the three walks adds up to a strenuous challenge even for a conditioned canoeist. Finishing the death march is definitely a feather in your cap! Tom |

01/03/2020 12:06PM I did the Memory Lane 4 years ago. One of the middle one was marked in the wrong location on my map. It is correct on the Adventure map. |
