Did really well.in Crappie and Blugills a couple years back to the west of the portage from Good into Basswood. In and around the old sunken steam engine to the mouth of Good Creek. Some of the Crappies on Thunderstick Jrs and the gills on leaches.
That was the end of May into the first of June. Nothing For panfish in Good or Wood though.

Don't think there are a lot of crappies up there in general but I have heard of a few lakes with decent numbers and size. Gabbro has a good reputation...and lots of other species to pursue as well.

I don't think you will find any crappy with any size on Wood or Good Lakes. Check it out on the MN DNR Lakefinder website. They found a few small ones on Good but zippo on Wood. I'm sure there will be some on Basswood but good luck finding them. It's a really big lake.

I can tell where I caught some very nice crappy on Iron Lake if you like. That's the only lake in BW I've ever caught crappy on.

We're looking for suggestions on fishing in Wood, Good and Basswood in mid-May. We decided our annual trip is in that area this year and a couple of us would like to get on some big crappies. We usually don't have a problem finding walleyes, most of our group is well versed in that area. We do, however, have trouble finding the crappies other than a few years back on Lac La Croix.

Any suggestions for the Wood/Good/Basswood area? If you would like to email me instead of putting it on here, that would be fine also. We take one trip a year to a different area/lakes so you won't have to worry about our group of four depleting the population! Thanks in advance!
