When are you guys headed in? We'll be in that area in the next couple of weeks and can let you know how the current conditions are. I've been through there several times and some of the portages can be muddy, but if the kids don't mind that, they'll be fine. The constant in and out of the boat on all the short paddles and portages kinda keeps them entertained. :-)

Here's our family trip through Brant from a few years ago.

Maybe it will give you some ideas?

Probably the middle site. It's a 3 level site.....lakeside, up to seating/cooking area, up to a tent area. It did have a nice big rock down on the lakeside level that looked well worn. It's not real high off the water. It's a neat site if you don't mind climbing up and down all the levels.

Hi Everyone,

Looking for a little guidance. I use to take high groups to the BWCA but now I am taking my family for the first time and am a little nervous. I have a 15, 11, and 7 year old sons and my wife. All pretty athletic and in shape. We have camped and canoed but never to the BWCA and for this long. We are planning a 5 day trip. My thought is to head out of 52 into Brant day one and then day two head into Gillis, and work my way through Crooked, Owl and then Tuscarora to finish up. I know the last portage out of Tuscarora is long, but I think we can handle it. I want their first trip to be rememberable and we like to fish. I took part of this trip 10 years ago but can't remember a lot. If I remember right there is an amazing campsite on Brant that has a great jumping rock. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
