06/23/2020 10:30AM I'm a big fan of the area. Never had great luck fishing (mostly lake trout/northern lakes), but love the territory, lakes, etc. I've traveled thru, but also used Little Sag, Gabi and Gillis as base camps. I've explored Tusc (but never camped on it). A couple noteworthy sites are 1) the falls/gorge between Agamok and Mueller where the Kek trail crosses the river; 2) the cabin remains in a beautiful cedar grove along a nice creek halfway thru the portage from Gillis to Crooked; 3) the Mora to Little Sag portage and the amazingly interesting hidden "place" behind the large rock on the Little Sag side; 4) Thelma Lake. Like Ponddigger I've traveled thru Kek and Fraser in a long loop from this area and JATFOMike, I've done the Frost River Loop (put in on Cross Bay River). Great routes, but there's a lot of great territory here. |

06/23/2020 08:16AM I exited out of 52 a few years ago after doing the Frost River route......as you enter the first or second portage from round Lake, off to the right is the largest beaver dam I have ever seen! It's "U" shaped and looks to be about 10' tall and quite long. It is actually visible on google earth.....pretty amazing feat of engineering.....on the downside of that, the portage was half underwater and rather treacherous.....My buddies and I jokingly referred to that dam as the mini "Hoover Dam"....quite impressive! Unfortunately our camera batteries were dead so we couldn't take any photos.... Mike |

06/22/2020 02:21PM I just got back from a solo trip from Round Lake. I entered through EP 52, and went to Kekekabic. I actually really loved the open feel of the burn area. My favorite lakes were Powell and West Fern, and they were also the least crowded. There is a beautiful site on the south side of Powell, with a decent tent pad back in the woods, and an amazing view of the lake. I am going to post a trip report and some pics here soon. |

06/17/2020 04:33PM I've entered and exited at both EP #52 and EP #51 out of Round Lake. You can loop from one to the other either direction with about equal difficulty. I like Tuscarora and Little Sag both. There's a good bit of portaging from Round to Tuscarora, but I'd probably go in that way. |

06/17/2020 12:40PM I haven’t entered from Brant Lake, but of the three nearest entry points that looks to be the easiest way to Tuscarora. I’ve traveled to Mora and Little Sag from the south, and I’ve visited the Gabi-Gillis area from the Sea Gull Lake EP via Ogishkemuncie. That one was before the fires though. |

06/17/2020 11:53AM It doesn’t look hard to get to Little Saganaga and Mora Lakes from there, but if you want to avoid most of the burn zones you might want to head to Tuscarora. |
