07/29/2020 01:07PM After traveling the Frost River, not only would I visit Frost Lake, I might take the time to travel the first part of the Frost River as a day trip. Most inquiries here are about traveling the entire route, but a day trip to Octopus or even Chaser Lake may be possible if traveling light (canoe and day pack.) |

07/28/2020 07:44PM Cherokee is three really easy portages and a gorgeous lake. The northestern arm of Cherokee has some cool cliffs and outcrops with interesting wave worn features. LIL is a whole day trip just to explore it all. Snipe is wonderful and an alternate way out through Missing Link and Round. Its a pretty short walk back to your car from Round Lake access. |

07/28/2020 04:29PM Good afternoon. First let me say how great a resource this site is for someone who enjoyed multiple trips to the BWCA in my teens and twenties, and who is now planning a trip back with my family twenty years later. A fantastic accumulation of knowledge and a community that seems devoted to the enjoyment of a beautiful peace of land, and spreading the ethos of LTN. Heading out on Sunday at EP 50 Cross Bay for a 6 day trip with my wife and two children (9 and 13). I am planning on base camping on LIL, but would welcome any day trip suggestions, and/or additional camping spots to mix it up. Both Frost and Snipe Lake seem like good options for day trips or alternative camping locations. Any suggestions? Thank you. |
