Or you could go in winter, when you can go anywhere and they encourage you NOT to camp in designated campsites.

PMA permits are only issued for the specific PMA designated areas. Gore Lake is not part of a PMA. And since it also does not have any designated campsites, you would not be allowed to camp there.

Is Gore Lake in a PMA?

If someone wanted to camp on a lake in the BWCA that is not on a route but is connected by a stream, which may or may not be navigable, to a lake on a route. Confusing. Here is an example: EP47, Gore Lk. just east of Horseshoe and just south of the Caribou portage. Would you put in for a PMA permit? Treat it like any lake in the Superior NF? Go for it and take your chances?

Please remember this is HYPOTHETICAL!! I have no plans to do this, it's 11pm on Sunday nite and my brain comes up with a lot of stupid stuff.
