My understanding is Camel, and Veron are supposed to have great fishing! They are also off the beaten path and not generally a Lake people go through to get to another lake. That would most likely be a quiet area of the park with the probability of other canoes coming through far lower.

I’d assume Burntside is a lake people traverse to get to Sturgeon lake as part of a loop or one way route. I certainly can see how I would link it into a nice route.

If the southern entries are still closed on my loop I’m sure we’ll still see a couple of other groups that are doing the long trip like us. Certainly won’t ruin my trip and I’ll enjoy conversing with them if we cross paths. I know even last year when it was only Canadians some of the YouTubers like Fisherman Boyle and Kevin Ride ran into a few other groups. I think they actually ran into each other but didn’t show it in video or speak of it.

I don't know of any campsites on the west bay but Burntside is a beautiful lake and besides Small mouth it has some dandy walleye and lake trout.

Argo: "Gaidin53: "PP has a picture somebody put in on the west side of that lake. Problem is I’m not always sure the picture is actually taken from where it is placed on the map. If it is actually from that area that looks like a possibly decent campsite. You can’t really tell for sure though and it’s a pretty small island.

The red flag on the island is a great site period and has ample hanging locations for hammocks.

I don't know about the west side of the lake and I'm not sure why it's a destination target of over the east side. You could camp anywhere on Burnside and see the whole lake when fishing. Lots of bass and like. Probably walleye too but none the day we were there

"

This is our first time in this area of the park. Where we normally go, in mid to late August, we paddle for 10 days without seeing another canoe. I am guessing that we will see less traffic on the west side than the east side, that's all. To sit in camp and watch canoes peddling by would be a real bummer for our crew.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks Ryan. That's kind of why I was asking. We prefer not to stay on the east side, but I can't find anything about the west.

PP has the sites Reviewed in my picture. Red flag is 4*, 5* sites. The one on the island I have marked is the better 4.5*. Blue flag is a 3 star site. Yellows are 1’s and 2’s.

They don’t have anything reviewed for the west side.

Looks like there are about 5 campsites on the western bay of Burntside. As we might be arriving fairly late to that area next week, can anyone shed some light on any of these sites? We'll have a small tent and three hammocks in our group.

Thanks.
