05/29/2023 03:27PM Have someone paddle you into Daniels on a day permit, then you hike the spur trail and meet at the trail junction. The other people who paddled you in then just paddle out. Depending on the entire route, if your group is headed to mountain you could get a ride down Clearwater to the portage and hike over to mountain and have them pick you up when they paddle past. |

05/29/2023 12:15PM Here is some info from past threads. Daniels Lake Trail Daniels Lake spur trail If the timing and camping position works out, a drier option is to hike in to Duncan or Rose via the Caribou Rock Trail. Maybe just have the group wait an extra day before doing the Long Portage. |

05/27/2023 08:59AM Hi all, We have permits for paddling this July, and sadly, I won't be able to join for the first day. On the second day, the plan is to portage from Rose to Rove Lake via the Long/Baby Grand portage. It looks like the Clearwater Lodge is just south. Any chance there are trails that might connect in to either lake, or somewhere along the portage itself? Or perhaps the bushwhacking isn't too bad up that way (not sure how marshy the ground might be). Thoughts/recommendations? Thanks! |
