Great trip report. It’s wild that what looks like a simple narrows on the Chrismar map could be so dangerous.

Sounds amazing. Let us know how it goes!

What a great trip report Bastard2! We are flying into Clay with a Beaverhouse exit 13 day trip starting July 6. Traveling a lot of your route westward. Thanks for the info!

Thanks! I’m guessing the more frequently used areas of the park have portages that have been maintained or used, so it shouldn’t be ubiquitous. I think the provincial park website has an overlay of the 2021 fires.

Update: Found it! https://www.ontarioparks.com/pdf/maps/quetico/Quetico2021FiresMap.pdf

Great report, nice photos--thanks for sharing your story and thanks for the life preserver reminder. Sorry to hear that the badly burned areas are hard to find portages through--we plan to portage out of the NE corner of Sarah in August, and were wondering about the 2021 fire's impact on portage trails.
