quote paddlefamily: "Great report. Man, you all eat well. I really like the idea of bacon wrapped walleye. What were the temps like?"

It was lows in the 30-40s at night and during the day usually about 50-65 degrees.

We make it a point to not suffer, half the fun is eating! :) The other half is drinking....

Interesting report. Thank you. WCPP is an itch I am going to have to scratch. Maybe 2015.

I really enjoyed that report. And I learned something . . . to be safe it you have to stay out an extra night, don't just bring extra food . . . bring extra booze. :)

Thanks - a little different report from the usual trip. Glad you had a memorable trip.

Nice trip report. Sounds as though your weather was a bit more of a challenge than what I experienced a week or so later (and further northwest).

I exited via the Glenn, Optic, Telescope, Onnie route on a solo trip back in 2010. Its a really nice area, but you have to be prepared to see signs of civilization from Optic on. (Of course, Hansen ... one late west has a private lodge .. the other lakes only cabins).

I asked Claire about helping with the portage clearing a couple years ago and was told they wouldn't allow it due to liability. Glad you could do it as I've been on those portages a couple times and appreciate a well maintained trail. Harlan is a great guy... We take him to Antonio's when we come up... But the Howey Bay is a great place too. September seems so far away...

Nice report, headed up there in a couple of weeks, and will probably be camping in same proximity? Thanks for the help on the portage trails, sounds like a real mess.

Nice trip report. I find it really interesting that an outfitter has permission from Park staff to designate portage crews. This is a big step forward in opening canoe routes and managing an updated inventory of portages. It shows that the Ministry-Public partnership can and does work.

Unfortunately the Wabakimi Project has come up against resistance to this idea in Wabakimi, and we have had to concentrate our efforts on routes connecting the park proper to major waterways that border the park, like the Savant River, Albany River, Attwood and Opichuan Rivers.

But... it is a good sign for positive changes in the future.

sounds like an event filled trip. thanks for clearing those portages, it's great the park allows civilians to help with those projects and use chainsaws for the bigger trees.
