I was pretty happy with this sled (Emsco Expedition, Camo )on my 5 day trip last week as far as durability and pack ability. I just think that if you’re going to do two or more trips a year it would be better to invest in a Black river type sled. On my way in it got a little gritty on the bottom and pulled just a little tougher due to the frost probably. 66 inches just doesn’t seem to be enough for a 5 day trip . I rigged mine up with two 7 ft PVC poles with the Clam pulling Harness that I recieved from TG here. I really liked that set up. I’ve never had a different type of sled but this one does seem pretty durable. It’s got a bit of flex in it even when it’s pretty cold which seems to help the durability. I know I could have done a better job of packing but this was my fist trip and I didn’t really know what I was doing.

Sobi	01/09/2015 03:26PM I wonder what year that was. My original is only 3 years old and it has held up well, but it hasn't taken blows like the the other 4 we bought for the kids. Couple of jumps and slamming into things and that was all she wrote. I like the look of this multi color job. Anyone have one? In the description the line about diamond polishing is missing as compared to the orange. I fear it will pull much harder??
Pinetree	01/09/2015 01:47PM The old ones you could beat to a pulp and they would not crack. I had one new one,about all I did was look at it and it cracked. My nephew went thru about 3-4 of them in short order. They had to change the plastic composite. Heard the same from other forum sites.

I have an orange sled and have not seen the problem you mention. It has seen -20 degrees with no problems. I don't baby the sled so maybe it's a matter of the manufacturing quality of the sled.

Craig K	03/03/2014 09:58PM I have 2 of the expedition sleds pictured above, one in orange and one in bright green. My son tried to use the orange one as a normal sled and it broke going over a small bump on the hill. I might have to pick up one of the black ones and give that one a try.
OldFingers57	02/27/2014 04:14PM Check at K Mart for these too. I got mine a couple of years ago and they had them in Orange and Black. They were not a Paris sled but one similar to it. Mine has held up very well over the years used as a pulk with the poles to pull it.

Link " Some of mine I have had for a few years and have ran them thru many harsh tests with zero breakage. My nephew has a newer one and I see he cracked the front end,could they have changed the material a little? The new one I bought it looks the same as the older ones.

It was Brainerd and in the $30-$35 range(they had about 5 in stock). That was in January. Fleet use to carry them and about 5 years ago for around $20.00-$25.00 in orange and than also camo in the hunting section for about $50.00 in the same sled just different color. But they don't handle them anymore. Getting harder to find. Been using this model for 20 years winter camping for some very long trips, and also to haul my deer out of the woods during deer season. I have had real good luck with them. I have a couple just for winter camping so they stay in better shape and a nice smooth bottom. They have good width and length with a nice hard bottom. First started with a smaller sled and it would tip over all the time. A perfect sled would be maybe a foot longer,but nothings perfect.

Jaywalker	02/27/2014 08:46AM Wow, orange sleds clearly produce the most fish - that must be where my problem is. Don't think I like the idea of a red one as they probably just get pulled over by rangers more. So it looks from the catalog that my style is no longer available in black. I am pretty sure mine is a 960 - definitely not a snowhauler - so would the appropriate term for it be "vintage" or "classic"?

Jaywalker	02/26/2014 11:25AM I have a Paris Expedition sled that is black that I have had for a good 8-10 years. All of them I have seen lately in hardware stores are orange. Does anyone know if black is still available? Its a small issue, but I am not fond of orange unless I am hunting pheasants or cheering for The Netherlands.
