Brian, you and your family have my deepest sympathies. What a tragic thing to happen anywhere, let alone in a wilderness setting with no help nearby.

Gary, who was part of the 2013 crew with Chuck, along with 4 others are going in tomorrow, and the discussion is ongoing about what a fine crew member Chuck was.

Brian, I too send my condolences and hope you can carry on your fathers love for canoe country. What a tragic loss to the canoeing community.

Brian,

My condolences to you on the tragic and odd death of your father. I have said to people, if I had to die, the Canoe Country would be the best place for it to happen for this 73 year old. Then scatter my ashes there.

I was just informed today the a Quetico veteran, Chuck Showalter of Wheeling, West Virginia, died tragically in a tree onto a tent in late July on Point Lake in south central Quetico.
Chuck was a great part of our crew to Quetico-.Cirrus last year, delighting in the fishing and outdoors beauty.. he was a veteran of multiple trips, and his son was able to go along at times. Chuck will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and canoeing associates. eyedocron
