06/14/2016 06:08PM The other thought I always have is what one person values in a campsite is not what the next person will value. I see sites rated as a five star simply because it is on a sand beach. Some of us avoid sand beaches whenever possible. Others avoid sites with a steep climb while some of us don't care much about the climb at all if the site and view are good. I agree, go with the sense of adventure and find the site you like. |

06/14/2016 12:38AM Suzanette might have more sites per acre than just about any lake a day's paddle in. Brent is also relatively rich in sites though more scattered. |

06/13/2016 10:45PM I agree with what everyone said. I'd modify tim's point a little - if it's not rated on the PCD, you should not count on the site being there - but it might be. Mark them all on your map, use a different symbol for the one's that are rated so you know they exist (caveat - even then sometimes people get the location wrong), and then use your eyes from the water to find a good site. You need to allow some time at the end of the day to find a site, but if you do allow some time, you will find a site. Yes, in the BW the maps are accurate so you know the sites exist - but they are way more likely to be occupied than in Quetico. So you should actually have much less campsite anxiety in Quetico. As the others said, Brent and Suze have quite a few good campsites, so you should not have trouble finding one if you allow a little time. Based on my (somewhat limited) experience, Conmee does not have as many nice sites, but I would recommend JF, which is on the bay just north of the portages coming from Brent. Enjoy! |

06/13/2016 10:34PM That's sort of what I like about Quetico, the not knowing for sure, the adventure. What I can say about the PCD though is if the camp is not rated then it most likely does not exist anymore. I have explored a few of them and if you look hard you can find a fire ring, but it may be 100 years old :) T |

06/13/2016 08:25AM My wife and I went to the BWCA for many years. We recently started going to Quetico. After a long day of paddling we sometimes have trouble finding a campsite. I got some information from the PCD but I've have found that some of that information isn't accurate or is obsolete. Same thing with campsites marked on the McKenzie and Fisher maps, the information is not reliable. We are planning a trip to the general area of Suzanette, Brent and Conmee this summer and if anyone is willing to share some information about campsites we would really appreciate the help. Any info about campsites is helpful, good or bad, if we know a campsite is bad we don't have to waste time checking it out. You can email me, you don't need to post the info here. We are going in August and we don't fish so you don't need to worry about your favorite fishing hole. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |
