As the title says, just curious how the fishing has been in the BW area so far this year. Going up in a few days and hoping for the best!

Just back from Hegman lakes, and we didn't catch squat. Maybe 5 bass, and a couple of walleyes for three days. Leeches worked the best, though I did get one bass on a yellow beetle spin.

Just came out of Big Moose EP 8, 6/1 - 6/9. Usually that 1st week of June is hot any where. My 3rd worst trip for fishing in 20 years. 2 to 5 walleyes a day, no Pike until Wednesday, and then we only caught 2 but both were nice size if you want eater pike 3 to 5 lbs. Smallies were snapping and could catch those rock rats all day, if that's what you're into. A buddy was the the same area the week before us, in for 7 days, 1 walleye, no pike, all the smallies you wanted. Leeches on spinners and jigs. Very color critical fishing. If you didn't have the right color on for that day, and it changed every day, you didn't catch anything.

Shoot, that bites, that is usually a hot time to go. I hope things turn around for my trip coming up. We head in to Big Moose on July 6th for a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated for fishing and campsites. TIA

Just got back from lake three. We caught plenty of northern and fair amount of walleye but the bass bite was the slowest we have ever experienced.

Just got back on Saturday from the LLC/Iron Lake area. Lots of walleye on shallow reefs and anywhere near moving water. Normal amount of pike mixed in. Very few SMB, which is just fine with us, as we moved our trip earlier than normal to hopefully catch more walleye. Trip report coming soon for more details.

Water temps still very cold for this time of year, which will slow the fishing down.
Rain and cooler weather is predicted for the rest of this week, then a warming trend at the end of June that will make the fishing pick up.
The greatest result of cold water may cause the Bass not to spawn in many lakes!! :)

Just paddled out from the paddle only area on Basswood yesterday. We found plenty of eater (and smaller) walleyes on points but had better luck on the mid lake humps. The larger females seemed to have moved out to them post spawning. The small mouth bite was just like other posters have said, sporadic and slow. We would find one or two smallies then not catch another one for another hour.

We just got back from a week in the Knife area. Pretty cool and slow compared to other trips and what people say Knife can be like. Had good quality but had to work for them and only caught a few of each species each day.
