I'm heading up Saturday, crossing the border at Rainy River and entering at Beaverhouse. I've never been there. I assume the road into the access is marked well, but I've made assumptions before....
Is it pretty easy to get there?

If it's high water, there are some muddy slogs. But they've improved the road enough that even a small, low-slung passenger car should make it through without problem or damage. Used to be in worse shape.

FYI... it's 14 miles of gravel from Hwy 11 to the Beaverhouse parking lot. At about the 10 mile mark, you'll see a sign directing you to turn left. From there, it's about 4 miles of one-lane road. If you meet someone, both of you just move over a bit and squeeze by.
You'll come to the parking lot first, but just past it is the loading/unloading area. From there to the water is about 100 rods (1/3 mile) of flat trail.

BTW, when you say crossing at Rainy River, are you talking about crossing the border at International Falls / Fort Frances? I'm not familiar with that crossing.

The road was great, it is very dry in the north country. Parking lot was pretty full when we went in and came out. There were fresh moose tracks on the portage both ways. There was a Ford Focus with a flat on the trail going in, it was still there when we came out??? This would be a great location for a lemonade stand! I would have paid a lot of money for an ice cold beverage!
Great trip for sure, I may be back again this summer.

Thanks for the road report. We will be going in that way this summer. Hopefully conditions will not have changed too much and they get the car out of there.
