I'm looking for a used Pakcanoe, preferably a 170 (17'), an old Mad River Escape, which was made by Pakboat, or an Ally folding canoe.

You are looking for tough cookie.
Probably have to go nationwide on Craigslist or similar.
I just bought a brand new Ally folding canoe, even that was tough to locate.

True enough. We managed to get a used one last year (we're looking for a second in order to take more kids on a trip). And a friend in Montana bought one that was being sold in upstate New York. But they're pretty scarce, especially the 17 footers, maybe because they're for a fairly specialized market. Allys are even scarcer. They are great boats, too. Some think they are better than the Pakboats.

Not sure if it would fit the bill, but saw this in the Midwest Mountaineering email yesterday:

"Ally Flatwater Packable canoe - reg $1745.95 - SALE $1399.97"

Note that the Klepper Aerius in one of the links is a kayak.

Overland,
What is your intended use for the canoe?
If you plan on alot of portaging, you should seriously consider the Ally.
My 16 foot Ally is 39#, compared to the low 5O# of a pakboat. My Ally flatwater is a nice paddling boat and definitely well built. It does not have the flotation baffles that a pakboat has therefore less chance of a leak.

I wouldn't mind getting an Ally--I didn't know they were so much lighter--but it's hard to find a used one. There are more Pakcanoes around.

Hey, I see I'm a little late here but I have a 170 I'd be willing to let go if you are still looking for one? I purchased it used from Piragis a little over a year ago. Let me know if you're still looking. Thanks!

Can you send me an email with details about the canoe--age, type of seats, condition of the hull, etc?
Thanks.

Wow, I have two Old Mad Rivers. My favorite is the Escape Special edition. I bought it three years ago for 50.00$. Just the hull, no seats or gunnels. I turned it into a solo with a sliding bench seat. The V hull with a slight rocker makes it a great canoe to have in rough weather. Just love it. The other I bought this past summer so I could have a spare if something happened to my primary Mad River. They are 30 years old and still incredibly strong. Both were barn finds and in good shape. Hope you find what your looking for.

E-mail me if you're interested. I have an Ally 15.5 for sale. It is actually 16 feet long. Must be a Norway thing to call it a 15.5.

We have a 2 year old 16.5’ Ally with Ally seats, no spray cover. Assembled twice, paddled once. In pristine condition. Will sell.

I have a 17 foot Pakcanoe, with a reenforced keel strip, spray cover, portage yoke and new web seats that needs a new home. Please contact me if you are still looking for one. Thank you.

Hi Lindentree, any chance you're still looking to sell the Ally??

Yes, check your other thread, but you will need to act fast if you want it for spring. In a week I will be self isolating at my other place and will not be around the Ally canoe for a month.

Edit, I'm not sure how I could ship it to you, we are in a stay at home order now.

Hi,
Just wondering if your Pakcanoe is still for sale? If yes, how old is it? What condition is it in? and where is it?

Thank you for your consideration. Hope you are well and still having an opportunity to get out and walk or paddle.

Hi
Is your Ally still for sale? If yes, where is it located? What are you asking for it?

Thank you for your consideration. Hope you and yours are doing well during this stressful time.
