I'm planning my first trip this spring/summer. I need advice on routes. This is my first trip but I'm not new to backcountry camping.

Our plan is for a 4-5 day trip. Would like to travel in a day or so and spend most of our time on a destination lake fishing. Hopefully one without a ton of traffic where we can get the true northern wilderness experience. Thinking of going the end of May to get into some good fishing. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

So there are a couple of questions that will help us point you in a more focused direction.

How much paddling experience do you and your party have? (May affect the size of lakes we might suggest.)

What variety of fish do you hope to target? (Many lakes have limited varieties available.)

Do you have a preference for west (Ely) side, east (Grand Marais) side?

How much (if any) outfitting will you require?
