I'm going in next Thursday (May 17). Ice should definitely be gone by then..

I'm trying to decide between Seagull and Alpine. I will go in at the Seagull dock and paddle towards Alpine. If I stay on Seagull, I won't have any portages. As for fishing, I should be able to catch a bunch of lakers on Seagull. I can always portage over to Alpine and fish.

But if I go to Alpine and basecamp there, I should be able to catch more walleye, pike and smallies....

What do you guys think? Based solely on fishing, should I basecamp on Seagull or Alpine?

Short portage over to alpine. Better Walleye fishing on alpine in my opinion.

Going into Seagull on 5-11 and base there. I like the trout over walleye.

you'll catch more pike-smallies & lakers of course in seagull , being early season the walleyes maybe easier to find at jasper falls than on seagull but i believe seagull still holds a bigger population of walleyes.

Big Slimers at Jasper Falls this time of year. 1997 my buddy Tom Gust caught a ( I landed it) caught a 50.25" Northern there for Opener- 2nd cast. Lost the pic and no longer hang with Tom Gust. So you will have to believe me. Had very few teeth left and moss/algae growing on the side of it.

ya the whole food chain will be going on at that base of those falls , we and others have also caught some 40" pike out of jasper , it seems like one doesnt catch many but there true trophies when you do.
