I am headed to Poohbah via the Malign River and a tow on Thursday for a 10 day trip. It is a spur of the moment trip with a friend. Neither of us has been to Poohbah but we've both wanted to for awhile. Does anyone know the current river/creek conditions, or have any other input or advice for a couple of obsessive fishermen? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

I was supposed to go there a couple weeks ago, but had to change plans at the last minute due to dangerously high water. The area received 4 inches of rain a couple days before I arrived. The best advice I can give is to call Mark at Zups resort on Lac La Croix as far as current conditions. I have been to Poohbah many times, and it is a fishing paradise. I have some spots I would be willing to share as far as fishing is concerned if your interested. Be careful at Twin Falls, hug the left bank until you are far away from the falls.

I second Wallee's warning about Twin Falls. Launching upstream, be certain to hang close to the left bank (the northwest) and paddle hard or there is a risk of being swept over the falls.

Just got back to Kansas from our Poohbah trip. The fishing was excellent for August, I had a grand slam within an hour of arriving.Great lake, great weather, great tripping partner. The mosquitos were bad but not unbearable. Fish are deep and very full of minnows. Saw only 2 other canoes in 10 days. The camp sites were trashy and had a lot of unburied human waste. Seems to be a growing problem. Took about 4.5 hours from drop off to southern campsite double portaging but going pretty hard. Thanks for everyone's input.
