the recent thread I started convinces me the first thing that needs to happen is self education, so
Global Warming by Mark Maslin
Climate by Mark Maslin
these two books are very short and to the point, 1st read Climate, so you understand the systems, then on to the dreaded Climate change

If you have more time than the above which could both be read in 4 or 5 days (or even 2 if you are an avid reader)
Climate, Into the 21st Century by World Meteorological Organization
it covers the above two with a little more breath and depth
which could be read in the same amount of time

I recommend reading both, all are well written , if you do read them all you will understand the problem better than 98% of politicians and fair amount of scientists too

Here is another I just finished last night, took me two evenings, similar to the first two in that it is part of the Oxford University “A Very Short Introduction Series” written by an expert in the field. Only a small investment in time to tell you what you need to know.
